My current hobbies inescapably include writing essays and reading Victorian Literature. As soon as I get home for Christmas after the boat show, though, I plan to have slightly more spare time, and may even read a few pages of Yachting Monthly to remind myself of what I'm missing.

At the moment I spend a lot of time envying the me that was, three months ago, sailing from Lisbon to Lancashire for a summer holiday.

In the meantime, I play the drums and occasionally fantasize about a bit of sun, sand, sea and sails.

Iona Morrison - I am currently in my gap year, between college and university.

I am saving up to go travelling through South America next year. Sailing has always been a big part of my life, mostly influenced by my dad, who is a keen sailor and skipper.

We live just half an hour from our sailing club, where I learnt to sail Toppers and Mirrors.

In recent years I have been sailing with family and friends to places such as Sardinia, Mallorca and the Hebrides.
