A. Yotlinx seeks to promote yacht sailing/cruising by bringing people and boats together through events. If you want to sail, Yotlinx provides you the opportunity to tell the world what you want to do. Yotlinx is about helping people get together to sail. So many dreams go unfulfilled for the lack of just setting a date and asking for help. Or maybe, someone has just described your dream and you just need to courage to join them. If you think about it, that's true for most things in life!

A. There are people who dream about sailing on a yacht. There are yachts tied up in marinas dreaming of sailing too. Some people may think its too expensive, others may feel they don't have the skills. Even boat owners may find they can't always lay their hands on a crew. Even in the heights of the peak sailing seasons, if the right people get together, to say charter a yacht, a great sailing event can take place safely and very inexpensively. It just takes one person to create the event in Yotlinx. Yotlinx will provide the space to share your idea to attract the participants you need to make it happen. Or, if you see an event that meets your dreams already advertised, then register an interest and talk to the creator.

A. Yotlinx does not sell sailing holidays. Yotlinx does not charter boats. Yotlinx members may do both.

A. An event is any calendar event that involves sailing a yacht. It can be just an afternoon out on a friend's yacht or a round-the-world cruise.

A. Yotlinx is about event creation and participation. Yotlinx invites you to register with a view to either creating and event of your own or registering an interest in an existing event. Creating an event within Yotlinx lets other know what you want to do, when you want to do it and where. It lets others know what expertise and even type of boat that you require.

A. Any Yotlinx member can create an event provided they are prepared to organise it. Creating an event makes you the event organiser. You can find advice and links on this site to help organising say a weekend or weeks sailing including chartering a yacht.

A. You become responsible for selecting the crew and agreeing who does what to get you on the water. This involves chartering a boat if you haven't got one and ensuring that the crew has sufficient competence to execute the event safely. You will find advice for Event Organisers from the main menu.

A. If you own your own boat which you do not charter and/or have an available regular full crew with whom you normally sail, then you probably don't need to register. But if, like most of us, your sailing adventures are curtailed through the lack of the right people, then Yotlinx can help get you on the water.

A. Once you create an event the event status is set to 'Open'. You will be notified automatically each time someone registers an interest in your event and the site will provide you with the means to contacvt them with more detail. You, or they can then contact each other to exlore the possibilities of sailing together. Once you have found a complete crew, you change the event status to 'Closed' and you are well on the way to your next trip.

A. At the time of writing there is no 'For Sale' facility on this site. However, anyone wishing to sell an item, even a yacht, through Yotlinx can send details to forsale@yotlinx.net and a For Sale section will be created. Free commission for the first 10 items. Negotiable beyond that.
