On Sunday, the weather was better, down to F6/7 and we went to Port Hamble Marina via Bucklers Hard. It was really cold and I have to say that I personally really appreciated the high warm collar offered by the Musto MPX stuff, especially when the squalls came with a free helping of hail. Bucklers Hard offered a nice spot for Sunday’s prolonged cooked breakfast and Port Hamble Marina offered a berthing challenge. If you haven’t been there, watch out! The tide runs right through the marina. We arrived at the height of a spring tidal ebb and were allocated a down tide, down wind berth. We opted for the ‘hang onto the hammerhead and wait for the conditions to change’ option. A decision reinforced by watching a neighbouring powerboat attempt a manoeuvre which is going to cost two boat owners a lot of money! Not to mention the cleats ripped off the pontoons.
