I have promised to raise money for a UK charity that supports carers by providing a little respite. I plan to do this through a round Britain sail in 2009, but need some advice as plenty of people will have done this before.
The event is planned for say 12 weeks (June, July, August) and the format at present is to take a ca. 45ft yacht and set up 12 one week slots. The yacht will be crewed by two volunteers at all times and have 6 berths available for each week. I am hoping to arrange sponsors to cover the cost of the charter so that berth fees can go straight to the charity.
I need advice on getting sponsorship to cover a suitable yacht for 12 weeks, best routes and any other thoughts and ideas to make the event a real success for those that join and the charity.
